Help us make Dev Opera
a great developer community

  1. How can I contribute an article?

Once you've created an account, you may submit an article for review.

  2. What kind of articles are you looking for?

The goal of Dev Opera is to be a central repository for a number of Web-related technologies. As such, we expect visitors to come here with questions of how to implement, not why they should implement a particular technology. Although evangelism is incredibly important, this is simply not the purpose of Dev Opera. Base your articles on experience, not theory. Bad coding rarely stem from bad will but from bad learning. It is your task to prevent that. Show how to do this well and what traps to avoid. Use few words. Don't assume your readers are idiots. Speed, size, security, standards compliance and state of the art coding matters to us. We hope it matters to you too.

  3. How should I write my article?

Articles on Dev Opera should be written assuming the reader is competent with at least the basic principles of Web development. In many cases, it's better to jump right into the meat of a topic, rather than having long introductions. Dev Opera reserves the right to make edits or corrections to articles for the sake of offering the highest quality content to readers. All articles should be written in English.

  4. When will you publish my article?

All articles must be reviewed by the Dev Opera staff to ensure a high level of quality. Once your article has been reviewed, you may optionally be notified of it's approval status. We always aim to have articles reviewed as quickly as possible, but we appreciate your patience.

  5. What about licenses and copyright?

There are currently 2 Creative Commons licensing options for publishing your articles. During submission, you will have the option to select whichever license better suits you:

We make every attempt to ensure copyrights are respected. As such, you may only submit articles that you have written and have ownership of.

  6. Where can I find more information?

The best place to get more information is in the forums. If you post a new topic related to submitting articles we suggest that you tag it with "submit article", to make it easier for others to find your questions/answers.
