24: Validating your HTML
In this article, Mark Norman-Francis revisits the importance of the doctype in your HTML documents, showing how the W3C validator uses it to validate your documents and return to you a list of HTML errors, if any are encountered. He also explains why this is so useful, and what you should do to fix your HTML errors.

The html document
http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/24-validating-your-html/example_validation.html is different from the example code in the article: in the linked file there is a space in the doctype at "http://www.w3. org/"; of course the validator complains about this (with a warning).
Validation by file upload gives a warning about the character encoding, while the validation by direct input doesn't complain about it (and so there are 17 errors with no warnings), but this is a W3C mistake.

Thanks for pointing it out - I've fixed the errors in the files.
