Let’s Talk Web Standards @ University of Oslo

I was invited for an evening of informal sharing with the good people from University of Oslo. Despite frequenting this campus many times in 2008, little did I know that the Faculty of Computer Science have such a huge reputation. This place is widely regarded as the founding place of Object Oriented concept when Ole-Johan Dahl and Kristen Nygaard invented Simula here.

Aleksander Aas and I met up with the organizers Torgeir and Stian from Cybernetisk Selskab. I started with a brief introduction about the importance of Standards and why it matters so much to all browser vendors, we then moved to some demos, and finally we discussed about some of the everyday challenges people face while trying to adhere to standards. We looked at three countries with three different challenges - China, India and South Korea.

Finally pizza hour.
